The Science Figure packs contain figures in both Windows Metafile (WMF) format and SlideWrite format. Both formats contain the same high-quality clip art. The descriptions below will help you decide which format to use.

The Windows Metafile (WMF) Format
Clip art in the Windows Metafile (WMF) format is readable by nearly every Windows application. And WMF clip art can be edited by some Windows programs such as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and CorelDRAW.
SlideWrite Plus can place WMF files on your charts and resize them but it cannot edit them. You can work around this problem by using some other program to edit the WMF files when necessary.

The SlideWrite Format
SlideWrite Plus can read and edit clip art in the SlideWrite format (FGL and TC files). The SlideWrite Plus drawing module lets you place the figures anywhere on your charts. And you can edit, scale, flip, or rotate the figures, change colors, or even create your own custom figures.
However, other Windows programs cannot read or edit SlideWrite clip art directly. You can work around this problem by using the SlideWrite Edit, Copy Chart dialog box to place a piece of clip art on the Windows clipboard for use by other Windows programs. You can also use Edit, Copy Chart to save a figure in a WMF file.

Which Format Should You Use?
If SlideWrite Plus is your primary drawing and graphing application, then we recommend using the SlideWrite format clip art. If you intend to use the clip art with a variety of Windows applications and have access to a drawing program that can edit Windows metafiles, then we recommend using the Windows metafile format clip art.
